Shooting Stars Dance Academy
We offer technique-based classes taught in a caring and friendly low-pressure environment. We pride ourselves in our small class sizes, where we know each student personally and no one is made to feel like a number. We ensure everyone can feel good about dancing, regardless of age and current ability. We are experienced in working with students with special needs. We offer classes in Ballet (including Pointe), Jazz, Hip Hop and Contemporary for ages from 3 to adults.

Drawing upon over 20 years of dance industry experience via dance training, performance and teaching, my passion is sharing my love of dance. I truly believe that dance should be for everyone, irrespective of age, ability, physique, background or circumstance.
Julia
Julia recently moved to Cairns after completing her BA (Hons) in Musical Theatre. She has trained extensively in jazz, tap, ballet, commercial and contemporary and is so excited to share her passion for dance with her students.
Kylie
I am looking forward to sharing my passion for yoga with over 15 years of personal practice and 200hr Vinyasa yoga teacher training. I'm also a trained breathwork and sound healing facilitator. Combining all of these modalities in the class to bring you a sense of overall wellness. My classes are suitable for beginners/intermediate level.
Kayla
I have over 10 years experience in dance and have successfully completed a Cert 3 in Dance. I have attended the excellence program in dance throughout high school. I have performed in local and State productions and competitions. I have performed in jazz, hip hop, contemporary, tap, heels.
Ella
With 15 years of diverse dance experience spanning various styles, I have a profound passion for ballet and musical theatre to the studio. My expertise extends beyond the dance floor, having successfully taught and choreographed numerous theatre performances with the Cairns Rondo Theatre, showcasing a unique blend of technique and precision. I am committed to nurturing the next generation of dancers, having a wealth of knowledge and a contagious enthusiasm for dance.
We are excited to have expanded our SSDA offerings to provide quality adult fitness classes alongside our dance programs. Catering to all fitness levels, ages and abilities, our Star Fitness programs are fun, energy-boosting and will get you moving!

Mums n Bubs, Yoga, Fitness Funk, Combat Hip Hop, Lengthening Lyrical, Circuit Body, are just some of the fitness classes on offer. We have added the classes to our timetable in blue.
Our fitness classes
Funk Fitness
A 40 minute medium intensity dance fitness class based on the jazz and funk style of dance. Dance tracks are from latest pop songs through to popular songs through the decades. Dance tracks are up beat and fun following the jazz genre. Learn choreography and build your skills each week. Dance track , followed by fitness track which includes exercises of medium intensity like squat , plyo lunges etc.
BBB (Barre, Balance, Bands)
40 minutes of strengthening and toning through the use of ballet exercises done on the Barre and resistance training with the use of the bands. Balance bringing the body into alignment with the use of yoga exercises. BBB is a great all over body workout and no class is ever the same with each teacher bringing their own flavour to the class.
Yoga
A 1 hour class including stretching, yoga poses and relaxation meditation. Moving with the awareness of the breath to bring a sense of inner calm while building strength and flexibility. Accompanied by sound or mantras to carry this inner calm into your day.
Combat Hip Hop
A 40 minute higher intensity dance fitness class based on the grit of hip hop with the punch of combat fitness, think boxing , kick boxing and bootcamp exercises mixed with the hip hop groove of dance. Track of choreographed hip hop moves followed by intense combat fitness. Perfect for those that want that little more oomph in a workout.
Body Circuit
40 minutes of circuit training with predominantly the use of the body for the exercises in the circuit. Dance tracks are inserted throughout the circuit to liven up the circuit. Great fun and a good workout for anyone, easy to go at own pace.
Lengthening Lyrical
A 40 minute medium intensity class of dance and pilates . Focusing on the body moving long and with fluidity in the dance tracks to contemporary music. Using breath and strengthening exercises of the pilates flavour this class is for those looking to lengthen and limber the body through movement and strengthening exercises.
Mums n Bubs
A 30 minute, child friendly exercise class. Mum's can use bub in some of the exercises and class is safe for wandering babies. This class includes a combination our various dance and fitness classes and includes circuit fitness .
