History and Mission

Shooting Stars Dance Academy (SSDA) was founded in early 2019 with a simple but powerful vision — to create an all-inclusive dance school where absolutely anyone can experience the joy of dance. From children taking their first steps in a studio to adults rediscovering their passion, SSDA welcomes students of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.

Our mission has always been to build a dance community that celebrates individuality and personal growth. At SSDA, there is no pressure to conform, compete, or perform. Just the freedom to move, learn, and express. We believe dance is for everyone, regardless of experience, body type, fitness level, or circumstance.

The academy was founded by Principal Selena, whose own journey inspired SSDA’s inclusive approach. After moving to the Wollondilly area as a mother of four, Selena found limited options for families seeking supportive, accessible dance classes. Drawing on her background as a trained contemporary dancer and experienced teacher, she set out to create a space where everyone could belong — a place filled with positivity, community, and creativity.
